West Virginia is a state located in the Appalachian region of the United States. It is bordered by Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, Ohio to the northwest, Pennsylvania to the north, and Maryland to the northeast. The capital and largest city is Charleston.
Known by phases like "Wild and Wonderful" and "Almost Heaven", and popularized in John Denver's song Country Roads, West Virginia is best know for it's beautiful country and rural charm.
On Friday, March 6th, 2015, from noon-1:30 p.m., the 19th annual YWCA Women of Achievement Awards luncheon took place at Embassy Suites in downtown Charleston, WV with a sold-out crowd of 500 attendees.
This year’s YWCA honorees were Sharon Flanery; Kitty Dooley; BrickStreet Empowerment Award winner, Amy Thomas; and Judy Wellington.
Farmers from across the state are meeting in Charleston for the 11th annual West Virginia Small Farm Conference. The annual event draws farmers, youth and industry together for an opportunity to learn and share new and innovative production and marketing techniques that translate into increased economic impact for the state’s blossoming agricultural community. The conference continues through Saturday.
